  • offer solutions and strategies for improving the outcomes for all people who are living with mental health issues and their carers
  • assist in project implementation and ensuring meaningful project outcomes
  • support the distribution of national approaches
  • provide links to local multicultural communities
  • review communication and other documents
  • and so much more

Project Information

This project is funded by the Australian  Government Department of Health to focus on mental health and suicide prevention for people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds in Australia.

Mental Health Australia, the Federation of Ethnic Communities’ Councils of Australia (FECCA) and the National Ethnic Disability Alliance (NEDA) will work together with people from CALD backgrounds who have experienced mental health issues and their carers to achieve the aims of this national project.

The project aims to improve mental health services for people from CALD backgrounds by helping organisations and workers to better understand and respond to the needs of Australia’s CALD communities as well as activities within communities concerning stigma reduction and information provision.

CALD Mental Health Consumer and Carer Group

Mental Health Australia will initially appoint members to the CALD Mental Health Consumer and Carer Group for one year. Membership will be renewed annually.

Members will be offered sitting fees for their participation in CALD Mental Health Consumer and Carer Group and all travel and accommodation expenses associated with attending meetings,  will be paid for by Mental Health Australia.
