Recommendations for the 2025 Federal Election
We have released our 2025 Election Platform, calling for a fair, inclusive and equitable multicultural nation. With more than half of Australians either born overseas or having a parent who was, our rich diversity is woven into everyday life. The platform highlights the importance of ensuring that government policies, services and representation properly support and reflect this reality.
Central to the plan are recommendations focused on positive election narratives, strengthening human rights, adopting a National Anti-Racism Strategy and implementing the Multicultural Framework Review. We highlight that bipartisan support and cross-government coordination are essential for practical initiatives such as improved data collection, intersectional policy design and comprehensive language services. Encouraging people from diverse cultural backgrounds to actively participate in decision-making remains a key priority.
The platform also addresses rising costs of living and the disproportionate impact on multicultural communities. Specific measures include tackling issues such as affordable housing, fair employment pathways and accessible essential services. We further call for stronger settlement assistance and appropriate funding to foster a sense of belonging, quick integration and long-term stability for new arrivals.
Key priorities include:
- Strengthening leadership and accountability
- Recognising overseas skills and qualifications
- Supporting multicultural organisations with sustainable funding
- Ensuring services remain culturally appropriate and accessible
