FECCA Announces New Board to be led by Peter Doukas OAM following the 2024 FECCA Conference

The Federation of Ethnic Communities’ Councils of Australia (FECCA) is proud to announce the appointment of its new board, following the 2024 FECCA Conference held in Meanjin (Brisbane) on the lands of the Turrbal and Jagera peoples. The announcement was made on the conference’s final day, bringing together leaders and advocates from across Australia to promote policies for a more inclusive and equitable multicultural Australia. The newly appointed board, which will guide FECCA’s work over the coming years, is led by Peter Doukas OAM, who has taken on the role of Chair.

The new board members are as follows:

  • Peter Doukas OAM, Chair & ECCNSW Chair
  • Elijah Buol OAM, Senior Deputy Chair & ECCQ Chair
  • Jill Morgan AM, Senior Deputy Chair – Women
  • Dr Edwin Joseph, Hon. Secretary & MCNT President
  • Emanuel Valageorgiou, Hon. Treasurer
  • Akesa Kei, Regional Chair
  • Miriam Cocking, MCCSA Chair
  • Eddie Micallef, ECCV Chair
  • Andrew Ng, ACTMC President
  • Dr Sadhana Bose, ECCWA President
  • Jade Li, MCOT Chair

The outgoing Chair, Carlo Carli, expressed confidence in the new leadership and the board’s ability to continue driving the organisation forward:
“It has been a great privilege to lead FECCA during such an important time for multicultural Australia. I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved, and I am confident that Peter and the new board will continue to make significant strides in advancing the interests of our diverse communities.”

The incoming Chair, Peter Doukas OAM, shared his enthusiasm for the future of FECCA and the importance of building on the organisation’s past achievements:
“It is a privilege to take on the role of Chair during such a pivotal time for multicultural Australia. FECCA has been a driving force in advocating for the rights and representation of our diverse communities, and I look forward to leading our continued efforts to address the evolving challenges we face. Together with the new board, we are committed to strengthening inclusion, ensuring equitable access to services, and championing policies that reflect the rich diversity of our nation.”
