Multicultural Framework Review Pre-Budget Submission

Multicultural Framework Review Pre-Budget Submission

FECCA has submitted a comprehensive Pre-Budget Submission for 2024-25, advocating for substantial investment in a National Multicultural Framework. This framework aims to advance a more inclusive and cohesive Australia, emphasising the importance of cultural diversity for social, economic, and political success. Further underpinned by strategic investments across several pillars, including fair access to services, support for multicultural organisations, and enhancing community participation. Key recommendations include establishing an Office for Multicultural Australia, a Multicultural Act, and annual Multicultural Budget Statements to ensure effective governance and allocation of resources for diverse communities.

FECCA also highlights pressing issues faced by multicultural Australians, including barriers to service access, health disparities and the need for culturally responsive aged care. FECCA proposes significant investments in community-led initiatives such as media literacy programs to combat misinformation, and comprehensive settlement support for migrants, particularly non-humanitarian entrants. Advocating for a holistic approach that engages all sectors of society—government, business, and civil society—through targeted interventions to build resilience in multicultural communities. Fostering inclusion through education, data collection, and policy development, FECCA aims to ensure that Australia’s multicultural framework is robust, equitable, and capable of addressing the diverse needs of its population.
