FECCA Announces CEO Transition

The Federation of Ethnic Communities’ Councils of Australia (FECCA) has today announced that Chief Executive Officer Mary Ann Baquero Geronimo will be concluding her tenure after more than two and a half years as CEO and over seven years of dedicated leadership and service within the organisation.

FECCA Chair Peter Doukas OAM highlighted Ms Geronimo’s contributions towards advancing FECCA’s priorities, reinforcing its position as Australia’s leading multicultural peak body.

“Mary Ann raised FECCA’s profile as a trusted partner to government and community stakeholders by delivering policy advocacy grounded in evidence, implementing impactful national programs, and fostering cross-sector collaborations. On behalf of the Board, I extend my appreciation for Mary Ann’s significant leadership and commitment,” Mr Doukas stated.

Ms Geronimo reflected on her experience, noting: “It has been a privilege to lead FECCA at a time of growth and impact. Together, we have strengthened the organisation’s foundations, delivered ambitious policy advocacy, program, and research work, and built a more connected multicultural sector. I am confident FECCA will continue to play a vital role in advancing our communities.”

Ms Geronimo’s tenure will conclude at the end of March 2026 as she transitions to new professional pursuits.

To ensure continuity in leadership, the Board has appointed Ms Jill Morgan AM as Acting Chief Executive Officer, while recruitment for a permanent CEO is underway.

Further details regarding the recruitment process are soon to be released on www.fecca.org.au. Applications will close on Friday, 01 May 2026.
