The Federation of Ethnic Communities’ Councils of Australia (FECCA) has joined forces with ten multicultural peak bodies from around the country to issue a joint message calling for unity, respect and action, in response to the  anti-semitic attack at Bondi Beach on Sunday 14 December 2025.

Titled, This is Not Australia, the joint message appears on page 11 of the print edition of the the Sydney Morning Herald (SMH) newspaper on 22 December 2025 and circulated via social media and other channels.

The ten organisations behind this statement are:

  • Settlement Services International (SSI)

  • Ethnic Communities’ Councils of NSW (ECCNSW)

  • Australian GLBTIQ Multicultural Council

  • Australian Multicultural Foundation (AMF)

  • Australian Red Cross

  • The Forum of Australian Services for Survivors of Torture and Trauma (FASST)

  • Multicultural Youth Advocacy Network (MYAN)

  • National Ethnic Disability Alliance (NEDA)

  • Refugee Council of Australia (RCA)

  • Settlement Council of Australia (SCOA)

Together we are calling on Australian’s to reject fear-based narratives, and to celebrate and embrace our vibrant multiculturalism in these difficult times. We also strongly urge the Government to take swift and decisive action on the Multicultural Framework Review and National Anti-Racism Framework.
