Become a member of FECCA

FECCA members are State/Territory and Regional multicultural and ethnic communities’ councils. FECCA also admits Associate member organisations, and recognises outstanding individual contributions through Honorary Life membership.

No member of FECCA may engage in any activity that is illegal or contrary to the interests of FECCA. All members of FECCA must provide proof of their compliance with the requirements.

State/Territory membership

Affiliated State and Territory multicultural and ethnic communities’ councils must be incorporated bodies with membership of a minimum of three incorporated organisations (each representing a distinct multicultural community) and a total combined membership of no less than 300 individual members residing within the State or Territory. Only one peak multicultural and ethnic communities’ organisation per State or Territory may be an affiliated member.

Regional membership

Affiliated Regional multicultural and ethnic communities’ councils must be incorporated bodies affiliated to, and financial members of, the State or Territory multicultural and ethnic communities’ peak organisations in which its principal office is located.

Regional members must be regional peak organisations whose members are multicultural community organisations within a defined geographical area outside metropolitan areas of the States or Territories.

Regional Councils must have membership of a minimum of three incorporated organisations (each representing a distinct multicultural community), with a total membership of not less than 60 individual members residing within the defined geographical area.

Associate membership

FECCA is keen to build stronger partnerships with other national organisations that have compatible aims, through offering associate membership. Associate members must be national or multi-regional incorporated bodies whose Constitutions are compatible with the objectives of FECCA.

Honorary Life membership

FECCA Honorary Life Membership recognises individuals who have made outstanding or contributions of merit, service or assistance to advancing the work of FECCA.

Nominations for Honorary Life membership are received from State/Territory and Regional members and following consideration, are awarded by the FECCA Council at annual general meetings.

Nominees are considered eligible:

  • if they have made a contribution to FECCA’s work that can be considered outstanding and above and over what might be reasonably expected from employment or voluntary involvement in the organisation,
  • have contributed to FECCA in the such a manner for no less than five years; and
  • are not current employees of FECCA.

No more than three FECCA Honorary Life memberships shall be awarded in one year.
